For years, it was 'taboo' to talk about the consequences of the 50-year-long armed conflict in Colombia. Nevertheless, recent global events made clear that the ones who took the courage and sowed the road to peace achieved the near-impossible dream: to end the world’s longest-running civil war.

Many farming and indigenous families from Mesetas had the courage to close their doors to the mafias that controlled the region by replacing coca crops with ‘the best coffee in the plains’.

“Cafemasú” is an association that gathers 40 farming and indigenous families from Mesetas who decided to exchange illicit crop growing for coffee planting
