Colombian Style
Colombian Style
Simplicity resides in the DNA of Colombian families. Simplicity which is even expressed in the way of preparing the popular 'tinto', a filtered style coffee that only requires an 'olleta' (a deep aluminum container), a cloth filter and quality ground coffee, such as the ones you can find at Coffee Tellers Co. According to Colombian coffee tasters, a good tinto is one that has a mild flavor, citrus aroma notes and a hint of bitterness.
What you need
- Olleta (deep aluminum container)
- Coffee filter cloth.
- 50 grams of Coffe Tellers Co. ground coffee (fine grind).
- 1 liter of wáter.Â
How to make:
- Heat up a liter of water in the container to 90º or its first boil.
- Add 10 tablespoons (50 grams) of Coffee Tellers Co. ground coffee into the strainer.
- Slowly, pour the hot water into the strainer.
- Complement with homemade bread per cup serving as it is customary in Colombia.
Tip: soak the ground coffee for 30 seconds in some hot water before completely steering; this is a pre-infusion that helps bring out flavors.
Warning: do not reheat 'tinto', for it is considered a crime.
Fun fact: some call the cloth filter a "sock" due to its similarity with the foot garment.
